----------

Slack Times is a Birmingham-based jangle pop band featuring Chris McCauley (guitar, vocals), Will Stewart (guitar, vocals), and Stuart Norman (guitar). They craft melodic, guitar-driven songs that draw from a range of shared influences including early Athens, Georgia pop.

This new release is a compilation of three EPs entitled "Carried Away" (includes 6 brand new songs plus the 8 songs included on their previous EPs released in 2021 "At The Blue Melon Rendezvous" and "Up Here", available here for first time on vinyl).

----------

"Isolated, lonely times had beset the world. Chris McCauley collected a series of tedious days into song ideas. He presented them to Will Stewart and Stuart Norman who helped to shape them. They were old collaborators (Holy Youth, Bad Hops) working in a new way. Adapting to the changes of the world, they met in a backyard rather than a practice room. The outdoor sessions suited the band, allowing space in the music for reflection. For the members, it would be a recognition of their foundations; the mood and feel resonating in them by the music of Yo La Tengo, R.E.M., and the Feelies. The earnest although fun nature of Athens, Georgia in a certain time. Influences that are now so classic they seem set in the stars, brought to life once again. And done so in such an instinctive manner that it could only be from a lifetime steeped in such sounds. But aware of the influence enough that the music also serves as respectful homage. This band truly deserves to be hailed as rightful torchbearers of that sound.

Propelling. Moving. Driving. That's how it feels to frantically listen again and again. Jumping off the ride as it rolls to a stop to run and get in line again, with a fervent desire to keep experiencing that feeling. A fast car windows down back road feeling. Fleeing with the joy of escaping a sadness, even while knowing it will never fully leave. Letting go of something even though there is no closure. A duality of emotions conjured from McCauley's unique way of singing you through a pretty melody to then leave you in the last note with an ominous chill. Yet, with each line’s dark wake, comes the reassuring light of the next line".
